Speciation Made Simple with an Agilent ICP-MS

Описание: The molecular form or species of a toxic element determines not only its toxicity but it’s bioavailability, mobility in the environment, and even remediation actions. For example, Arsenite is about 4 orders of magnitude more toxic than Arsenobetaine, a form considered nontoxic yet prevalent in salt water fish. Methyl mercury is a highly toxic form of mercury, yet elemental mercury passes through the human body predominantly without being metabolized. Therefore, it is critical to have instrumental techniques to be able to determine the form of the elemental species and Liquid chromatography coupled to an Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer is an ideal hyphenated technique (LC-ICP-MS) for this. This presentation addresses some practical aspects and capabilities of implementing speciation easily on an Agilent ICP-MS interfaced with an Agilent Infinity II LC.
